Why psychotherapy or counselling?

Sometimes it can be helpful to talk to someone confidentially who is completely separate from your family or friends and who does not have preconceived expectations or beliefs about you; someone who is supportive and trained to help you work through your problems.

Regardless of whether you are looking for Psychotherapy, Counselling, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or Couple Counselling, you will have the opportunity to explore and to learn about your relationships, your emotions, thoughts and approaches to problem solving.

  • You will have the opportunity to reflect on your issues and gain a different, impartial perspective.
  • As client, you lead the way in terms of the subjects that are brought up and the time we take to work on them.
  • You are welcome to phone for a brief chat to outline what you are looking for.

Short term and longer term benefits

Starting to have counselling or psychotherapy is a little bit like starting to do a new form of excercise, people often feel relieved and start to feel better immediately, it might also feel unfamiliar and uncomfortable at times, but you are investing in a process that can bring longer term benefits and it is only further down the line you may realize how much has changed.

It is also like starting a new course of trainng or study. You may start to see things differently and to understand things immediately but it is only later you may realize how much you have learned.

Like all activities, the extent to which you are ready to invest in psychotherapy represents what you will get out of it.

Some of the things clients come to me to talk about include the following:-

  • Anger Management
  • Anxiety
